【Kuala Lumpur Food】Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam｜Most Popular Restaurant in Jalan Petaling
Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam (何九海南茶店)
One of the most popular and famous kopitiam in Kuala Lumpur
Must-try curry chee cheong fun and kaya toast
Experience the authentic local food in Petaling Street! A kopitiam is an essential destination to experience the local food culture in Malaysia. This particular restaurant is highly recommended for your next trip! We indulged in a variety of dishes and were pleasantly surprised that the bill only came up to RM 35 for two of us, equivalent to about 4 USD per person. It was definitely a great value for money!
Curry chee cheong fun is one of the popular dishes in Malaysia 😆 The curry rice noodle roll in this restaurant is super smooth and we were amazed by its texture! 😍 It’s the smoothest rice noodle roll I’ve ever had 🤤 The curry sauce is not too thick and strong, making it a great breakfast option.
▮ 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 (𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞)｜MYR 6.8｜✯ : 8 ⭐️ ▯ 𝘉𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 & 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵｜黃油咖央烤麵包(雙) Kaya toast is another must-try food item 🥰 The kaya jam is tasty and the portion is generous. The bread is crispy and pairing it with a soft-boiled egg is absolutely delicious! 🤤
▮ 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐠𝐠｜MYR 3.4｜✯ : 8 ⭐️ ▯ 2 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘨𝘨𝘴｜生熟蛋 (菜園蛋兩粒) Having a soft-boiled egg is a classic accompaniment to kaya toast 🤤 The eggs are perfectly cooked and complement the toast excellently 🥰
This bun is simple yet delicious 😋 The filling consists of butter, crushed peanuts, and sugar, and tastes somewhat like a mix of pineapple bun and HK-style sugar-coated mochi rice ball 😂 The combination is surprisingly good! 🤣
Unfortunately, this dish did not live up to its menu image 🥲 It seemed more like a pre-packaged, refrigerated dim sum. The appearance and taste were both ordinary, and we do not recommend it 😕
Hainan tea (cham) is made from a blend of coffee, tea, water, and condensed milk, resulting in a rich and flavorful drink 😍 The taste is slightly reminiscent of chocolate and is infused with the fragrant aroma of coffee and tea 😋 If you haven’t tried it before, be sure to give it a try!
The iced lemon tea at this restaurant has a flavoir similar to Vita Ceylon Lemon Tea in Hong Kong. Personally, I would suggest you to try Cham!
